Regional Police Training Conference

Under its Regional Dialogue Program, the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) works with the police agencies in the Southeast Asian Region to promote regional dialogue and information exchanges among the countries’ police and police training organizations to develop common solutions to regional concerns.

The Regional Police Training Conference was held from March 8 to March 11, 2022, under the cooperation between the Royal Thai Police, the Bavarian Special Response and Training Police and the Hanns Seidel Foundation Thailand, and Hanns Seidel Foundation Philippines with participants from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Unlike previous training conferences, this activity consists of plenary sessions and three sub-conferences addressing the following themes:

A.   Sub-Conference and Workshop of the use of Electronic Learning Management Systems (e-LMS) developed by the Bavarian Police, and how these may be adapted and/or applied to the participating countries’ police training organizations.

B.   Sub-Conference and Workshop on Promoting the Role and Strengths of Policewomen in the Conduct of Community-Oriented Policing.

C.   Sub-Conference and Workshop on Police Training Needs in response to Cyber- and Cyber-Related Crime directed towards On-line Exploitation and Abuse of Children.

The overall objective of the conference was to foster networking, cooperation, and information exchanges among the participants as these relate to police training in general and specifically on the sub-conferences’ themes.
