During the Regional Police Training Conference from March 8 to March 11, 2022, the Sub-Conference and Workshop on Promoting the Role and Strengths of Policewomen in the Conduct of Community-Oriented Policing was held. In the sub-conference workshop session, the participants gave statements on the status of policewomen in their respective police organizations, including issues that relate to gender sensitivity, the need for the organization to explore options to further the role of policewomen in police operations and decision-making and Country-specific developments that promote the role of policewomen in the conduct of community-oriented policing activities.

Further topics were Gender discrimination and equality in the Royal Thai Police, Police Women in the Practice of Community-Oriented Policing in the “new normal” and the International Association of Women Police Officers, underscoring the benefits of having a regional policewomen network to share and compare their respective policing experiences which affect the standing and furthering of careers of policewomen in Southeast Asia.

The participants concluded, that the role of policewomen in their respective organizations cannot be underrated, and conferences such as these continue to advocate the role of policewomen, their potential, and capacity to lead the organization. Among policewomen, from both a local and regional standpoint, conferences such as these allow for sharing of information and experiences wither through an informal or formal network.
