Dialogue between Deputies and Technical Departments of the ONA with counterparts of the Bavarian State Parliament
In the first two days of the delegation visit, the Deputies and Officials of the ONA had the opportunity to discuss with Mr Peter Worm, the Director of the Bavarian State Parliament as well as with Member of State Parliament and Vice Chairwoman of Hanns-Seidel-Stiftung – Ms Kerstin Schreyer. The delegates also had the opportunity to discuss the efforts to utilise digitalisation for effective parliamentary work with counterparts in Munich from the State Parliament Library and relevant departments. The dialogue sessions also comprised a dialogue with Prof Dr Ferdinand Wollenschläger of Universität Augsburg on legislative processes and parliamentary oversight during the pandemic.
Discussions on legislative processes, digitalisation and economic cooperation at the German Federal Parliament
On the third day of the visit, National Assembly Deputies and Officials of the ONA discussed various issues with their counterparts at the German Federal Parliament. In frank and open discussions, both sides expressed their interest in deepening cooperation between both parliaments at various levels. Discussions with Hansjörg Durz – CDU/CSU Chairman of the Committee on Economic Affairs of the German Federal Parliament – focused on digitalisation, the legislative process in Germany as well as the close engagement of members of CSU and the German Federal Parliament with their constituencies. Another highlight is the reflection of Mr Andreas Scheuer – President of the Asia Bridge –on his recent visit to Vietnam and the discusison on the various opportunities for cooperation in economic and political spheres between Vietnam and Germany.
On this occasion, Officials of the OAN also had opportunities to exchange views with their counterparts of the Officials of the Parliamentary Services, Research and Documentation Services and the Library of the German Federal Parliamnet presented the existing support mechanisms so that Members of the Bundestag can perform their parliamentary duties efficiently. Their Vietnamese counterparts outlined the current status quo of how the ONA supports the work of the National Assembly Deputies.
Visit to an exhibition on parliamentary history
During our recent study visit, the Vietnamese delegation visited the German Federal Parliament’s exhibition on parliamentary history at the New Church. The exhibition traces the historical development of German parliamentarianism since 1848/1849. An insightful guided tour was followed by reflections of Vietnam's own experiences with its National Assembly since 1946.
