Sustainable Development Transition Forum (SDTF) 2017

The fourth SDTF 2017 hosted by the United Nations Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD) and supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation took part on 31 October to 1 November 2017 in Incheon, Korea. The forum’s objective is a better understanding of mainstreaming and implementing of the 2030 Agenda at national level.

More than 100 participants from governments, UN agencies, think tanks, development banks and academic institutions from around the world shared their knowledge and experience about the formulation and implementation of sustainability programmes. This year’s focus was set on resilient societies, the sustainable transformation of cities and communities (SDG 11) as well as financing of the SDGs. For many years HSF has been sending delegates from high-ranking institutions and ministries to contribute to the thematic development of the sustainability issue. This year’s delegation comprised six Asian environment experts. H.E. Mr Poch Sovanndy, Deputy Director General of Planning, Ministry of Planning, Cambodia discussed the Sustainable Development Goals and Finance in the Cambodian context. He also highlighted that, in addition to financial support, sharing international experience and best practices will support achieving the SDGs.

While discussing the specific topics and selected SDGs of the 2017 and 2018 High-Level Political Forum, the 2017 SDTF seeked to achieve the right balance between the economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development throughout the different sessions of the Forum.
