This week, the Secretary of Ha Noi Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue was elected as the new Chairman of the National Assembly and the National Election Council following Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan who was the first woman to hold the top legislator position in Viet Nam. The National Elections for the 15^th National Assembly and all-level Local People's Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure will take place on 23^rd May. While the new leadership of the National Assembly was sworn into office, HSF had a meeting with the ONA in order to discuss our ongoing project activities.

Together with the ONA, HSF is working on Parliamentary Manuals on legislative, supervisory, and decision-making processes that will provide the incoming Deputies with information to effectively carry out their responsibilities. These publications are of great importance given the fact that the majority of the 15^th National Assembly deputies to be elected in the National Elections on 23^rd May will be first-time deputies. Furthermore, the two parties also discussed the contents of the 1^st Parliamentary Information Brief of 2021 – the first product of the cooperation this year that will be distributed to National Assembly deputies and National Assembly supporting staff from next week.
