Forum on Road Traffic Safety
Forum on the legislative framework of road traffic safety

The Office of the National Assembly (ONA) collaborated with the Hanns Seidel Foundation Vietnam (HSF) to organize a Forum on Road Traffic Safety in Vietnam. The Forum happened in the context of two parallel legislative processes that are currently taking place in Vietnam and that will be discussed during the upcoming biannual Plenary Session of the NA: the drafting of the Law of Road Traffic Safety and Order and the amendment of the Draft Law of Road Traffic.

For attending Members of the NA and officials, the Forum served as an opportunity to discuss potential legislative innovations with experts, relevant associations, and private sector representatives.

The Forum was chaired by H.E. Trần Ngọc Khánh, Vice Chairman of the NA’s Committee of Defence and Security, H.E. Dr Pham Dinh Toan, Vice Chairman of the ONA, and H.E. Lê Xuân Thân, Head of the NA’s Delegation of Khánh Hòa Province. More than 20 members of the National Assembly and more than 30 representatives of relevant line-ministries, associations and the private sector took part in the event and contributed to the discussion.

The next Plenary Session will take place in October 2020. The National Assembly Vietnam meets twice a year for one month in Hanoi to discuss and vote on legal amendments and new laws.
