ENVForum Annual Conference 2022: SMEs going Circular

Hundreds of sustainable development experts and practitioners joined Asia-Europe Environment Forum (ENVforum) Annual Conference 2022 to exchange of ideas and solutions on the decarbonisation of the agri-food industry. The conference was organised completely online for the third time in a row due to the pandemic situation.

From 28th to 29th June, Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) and other partners under the ENVforum - namely the Asia-Europe Foundation, Stockholm Environment Institute, ASEM SMEs Eco-Innovation Center, and the Institute for Global Environment Strategies jointly hosted the ENVforum Annual Conference 2022 “SMEs Going Circular: Decarbonisation of Food Supply Systems”. The conference offered a platform to empower participants from all around the world to identify challenges, exchange best practices, and brainstorm solutions towards an effective decarbonisation of food supply chains.

During two days of the conference, representatives of governments, civil society and the private sector from Asia and Europe engaged in insightful presentations and discussions on various aspects of the circular transition in the agri-food industry. The main part of the conference consisted of two thematic discussions on SMEs decarbonisation enablers, and decarbonisation and digitalisation strategies for a cleaner supply chain.

Another highlight of the conference is the showcase of selected companies that have contributed to circular business models, among them 2 ECOTHON alumni: Anihan Technologies (AniTech) – first prize winner of ECOTHON in the Philippines 2021 and PT Berkah Inovasi Kreatif Indonesia (BIKI) – first prize winner of ECOTHON in Indonesia 2021. HSF’s supports for both ENVforum activities and ECOTHON series are part of our regional project to promote Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) in ASEAN.
