During their stay in Hanoi, the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) supported students from Germany and organized different lectures and events with representatives of various German institutions and organizations based in Vietnam.
As part of this, representatives of B.Braun, German Trade and Investment (GTAI) and the German Industry and Commerce, the Außenhandelskammer (AHK) Vietnam shared their experiences as German Organizations in Vietnam and gave an overview of the economic situation and market assess in Vietnam. A site-visit at the Van Laack textile factory allowed a deeper insight in working conditions and business processes.
An invitation from the German Embassy allowed the group to interview Mr. Konrad Lax, head of the unit of Politics, Human Rights and Corruption Prevention on the work of the German Embassy in general and in Vietnam in particular as well as on the political situation and the situation of Human Rights in Vietnam.
Through conversations with Wilfried Eckstein, Director of the Goethe Institute Hanoi, Magdalena Knoedler from HSF, and Julia Behrens from VLab, the students could get an impression of the work of Political Foundations and Cultural Organizations in Vietnam as well as Cultural Exchange between Vietnam and Germany.
The visit was culturally rounded up by a field trip to the rural areas of Ninh Binh and Song Cong and a visit of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the Temple of Literature in Hanoi, an important cultural heritage of Vietnam.
The Bayerische EliteAkademie is an economic foundation from Bavaria. It supports outstanding and committed students from Bavarian universities for a period of three years in developing their leadership qualities. The EliteAkademie also aims to strengthen the intercultural competence of the fellowship students. Since 2013, the scholarship holder are visiting Vietnam during their annual study trip to Asia and are hosted by the HSF.
