On 28th April 2023, Dr. Susanne Luther, Director of the Institute for International Cooperation of the Hanns Seidel Foundation visited Pol. Gen. Damrongsak Kittiprapas, Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police at the RTP Headquarter in Bangkok. Cooperation between HSF and RTP dates back to 2013 in which numerous workshops, seminars, delegation visits and exchanges between the Thai and German counterparts have contributed to our common goal, a citizen-oriented police force in Thailand.

Therefore, the main topic of the conversation was to exchange of views on the opportunities and challenges of a citizen-friendly and human rights-respecting police force in Thailand and Germany. Also, upcoming events in 2023 of our cooperation were also discussed. A study visit of Thai police delegation at the Bavarian Police is being planned, in which best practices of both police forces on the curriculum of their academies and training centers are being exchanged. Pol. Gen. Damrongsak Kittiprapas himself also took part in a study visit to Germany back in 2015.
