Women’s Capacity Development
The 3rd Workshop on Women’s Capacity Development for Better Community Management and Social Communication

From 30 October until 02 November 2017, Center of Local Innovation Studies and Development (CLISD), School of Social Science and Political Science, University of Phayao and the Hanns Seidel Foundation, Thailand held a 3rd training workshop titled “Women’s Capacity Development for Better Community Management and Social Communication” in Phrae province.

The 54 participants from three provinces (Lampang, Phrae and Phayao) consisted of representatives from Subdistrict Administration Organization (SAO), Town Municipality, Subdistrict Municipality, Village Headman, Community Developer, private sector, Chamber of Commerce, NGOs.

The aims for this training are, for example, to provide a platform for the participants to learn and exchange opinions on the following topics: to strengthen the project proposal writing skills, to support competency development of local governments and communities in terms of social communication and to enhance the legal knowledge in respect to the reconciliation in the communities in order to be able to adapt to their work to improve their community development.

Furthermore, it should help to improve the communication skills as well as to advocate network building among the participants and strengthen the existing network of women leaders. The lecturer conducted case studies, and let each group discuss and answer the question for each case on how to use communication methods for solving the community problems.

The participants mentioned that they appreciated the workshop. They gained knowledge, new ideas and networks. They were able to exchange experiences and opinions. This helped them to improve their abilities in various aspects.
