The aims of this workshop are to enhance knowledge about online exploitation and sexual abuse of children as well as to train the participants to be able to understand and help children victims both physically and psychologically.
On the event, Dr. Axel Neubert, the Regional Representative of the Hanns Seidel Foundation, welcomed the participants and pointed out the threats and risks of the new technology such as sexual abuse, violence, cyber bullying, gambling, addiction to game, etc. Moreover, there is a need that those who work with children have to know their roles and responsibilities. They also need to know how to help children and their family when they get to be the victims or be affected by the new media.
The main lecturers of this workshop were Thai experts from various areas including Pol.Capt. Khemachart Prakyhongmanee, Deputy Director of Bureau of Foreign Affairs and Transnational Crime from the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), the Ministry of Justice, Miss Wilasinee Rinya, the lawyer from the LIFT International and Mrs. Chulapak Meechalad, the Director of Prachaniwet Primary School. They gave the participants a simulation training on helping children who were victims from online sexual abuse.
Furthermore, Mr. Chatchai Im-arom, M.D., the doctor from Ramathibodi Hospital also participated as a guest lecturer in order to provide knowledge and understanding for the participants about working with people who experienced trauma. He explained how psychological process of the victims works and how we can look after the children with traumatized experiences.
