More than fifty prosecutors and police officers from the Province of Lanao del Norte and the City of Iligan actively engaged in discussions during the dialogue held last 13 September 2019.  Held in Iligan City, the day-long activity was the third to be held in said province and the twenty-fifth in the series of activities held in the Northern Mindanao Region.

In contrast to the first two, this one was joined by Chiefs of Police and representatives from the government local social welfare offices, in addition to the usual participant-groups.  This was specifically requested by both the prosecutors and the police investigators in order for them make full use of the dialogue as a chance to delve deeper into communication issues concerning children in conflict with the law where these stakeholders are also involved, as well as related matters encountered in cases involving prohibited drugs, misuse and abuse of environmental resources and crimes perpetrated through the use of computers or the Internet.

It may be surmised from the results of this activity that the regular conduct of these dialogues contributes to the further improvement of the communication between the prosecutors and police investigators, thereby helping to strengthen the working relations between prosecution and law enforcement.

The results from this activity are expected to feed into the overall results from the series of dialogues conducted in the Northern Mindanao Region that will be presented to the top officers in the region during a regional dialogue activity planned for the first week of November 2019.

The activity was organised by the Department of Justice-National Prosecution Service in cooperation with the Philippine National Police-Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management, with the support of the Hanns Seidel Foundation as part of the partnership between the two organisations on the program, “Dialogue between Prosecutors and Police Investigators from the Northern Mindanao Region,” which began in 2017.
