Hanns Seidel Foundation Holds Partners’ Conference

The Philippine Office of the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) organized a Partners’ Conference last 28 November 2016 at the German Club in Makati City in recognition of the successful completion of the current three-year project cycle of the cooperation from 2014 to 2016.

The Philippine Office of the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) organized a Partners’ Conference last 28 November 2016 at the German Club in Makati City in recognition of the successful completion of the current three-year project cycle of the cooperation from 2014 to 2016. 

The event was well attended with the participation of partners, stakeholders and friends of the Foundation coming from different sectors. Among them were key representatives from the government specifically from the Office of the President of the Philippines, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Philippine Public Safety College and Development Academy of the Philippines;

Non-government organizations were represented by the Alternative Law Groups, PinoyME Foundation, National Consortium of the Dual Training System Competency-based Education for Microfinance, National Cooperative Movement, Pimentel Institute for Leadership and Governance, UCPB-CIIF Foundation, and Association of Hanns Seidel Foundation Scholars Association of the Philippines; and international organizations, namely, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines, and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.

HSF Resident Representative, Mr. Götz Heinicke, mentioned in his Welcome Remarks that the gathering was to celebrate the invaluable work of the partners and stakeholders of the Foundation. He noted that it was a good opportunity to hear the work that has been done and achieved over the last three (3) years, as the Foundation embarks on a new project phase beginning in 2017.

Mr. Ulrich Franz Köhler, First Secretary and Consul of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, gave a short Message  in which he cited the HSF’s long-standing and productive cooperation with its Philippine partners which, he said, helped bring about better living conditions in the country. He noted the importance of education as key to sustainable development, which is the main thrust of the HSF. He expressed his trust in the continuing work of the Foundation in the country as a testament of Philippine-German international cooperation.

Key project partners shared highlights of the implementation of the different programs and projects as well as the accomplishments. The project cooperation with the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC), National Cooperative Movement (NCM), PinoyME Foundation (PMEF) and the Alternative Law Groups (ALG) were presented by Police Superintendent Sarah Abad, Assistant Chief of the PNP Human Rights Affairs Office (HRAO); Police Supt. Rhoderick Mariano, Training Director of the National Police Training Institute (NPTI); Mr. Edgardo Amistad, Board Member of NCM; Mr. Danilo Songco, President and CEO of PMEF; and Atty. Marlon Manuel, National Coordinator of ALG, respectively.

After the conference proper, the participants and guests enjoyed the rest of the evening with  German cuisine.

The HSF receives its funds from the Federal Government of Germany and its development cooperation work in the Philippines is among 60 countries where HSF is presently active worldwide.
