The workshop agenda tackled the sharing of updates on the institutionalization-localization efforts of the CBD Core Group in the region, as well as tackled thematic sessions on the vegetable industry, environment and disaster risk reduction, indigenous peoples, women, persons with disability, labor, and LGBT. It also included presentations on the PNP and ESCR, AFP’s Development Support and Security Plan “Kapayapaan,” State obligations, roles and responsibilities on ESCR, and overview on the CBD project.
More than forty (40) participants coming from all provinces covering the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) participated in the 3-day activity. They had a good exchange of information, insights and experiences including good practices, as well as animated discussions on current issues and concerns leading to a better understanding especially between the security sector and the community sectors.
The participants welcomed the participation of relevant government agencies and some LGUs with respect to the thematic sessions and other key concerns being experienced at the community level. The group identified their next activities.
The activity is under the auspices of the project “Community-based Dialogue Sessions on Human Rights Promotion and Protection between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police, and Civil Society Organizations and Local Communities.” It is supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) of Germany.
