Workshop on Federalism and Constitution with the Independent Lawyers Association of Myanmar (ILAM)

Between the 21st and 22nd of January the Hanns Seidel Foundation, in cooperation with the Centre for Development and Ethnic Studies carried out a workshop with the Independent Lawyers Association of Myanmar (ILAM) in Yangon.

The two-day workshop focused on Federalism and the 2008 Myanmar Constitution. The participating lawyers who were eager to learn more about the constitution and ways on how to reform it.

The core debate of the workshop was about potential federal reforms, that are in line with the Myanmar 2008 constitution as well as challenges and opportunities the constitution holds. The workshop was very focused – the many discussions answered many questions and raised even more.

It was the first time the Hanns Seidel Foundation cooperated with ILAM. Due to the success, more events are planned.
