The backdrop of shrinking civic space in Thailand has made debates around the importance of democracy, citizenship, and the role of youths ever more pressing. In this context, the Winter Camp with the theme “Harvesting Democracy” has been organized by the School of Political and Social Sciences, University of Phayao, in cooperation with the Hanns Seidel Foundation Thailand.
The objective of the Winter Camp was to offer youths a vital opportunity to discuss and learn about democracy, and civil as well as political rights and responsibilities.
In addition, contemporary political history was highlighted and the role of the media in a representative democracy was discussed. Moreover, interactive group and learning activities allowed participants to network and share ideas about democracy and related issues.
