Strengthening research capacity of governmental officials
Training on Research Methodologies, Labour Market Analysis and Forecasting Method

The Hanns Seidel Foundation in Vietnam (HSF) joined hand with the Institute of Labour Science and Social Affairs (ILSSA) to organize a two-day training workshop on research methodologies and labour market forecasting. The training aims to strengthen research capacity for young researchers and officials of government agencies regarding labour science.

The training course was held at the Institute of Labour and Social Sciences for 2 days. The participants listened to the sharing from labour experts, lecturers, researchers from several universities, research institutes and governmental agencies, including: Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, Department of Employment, Department of Labour Relations and Wage, Department of Legal Affairs, National Centre for Employment Services, Hanoi Employment Service Centre, University of Economics National Economics, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Labour and Social Affairs.

During this two-day training, researchers and junior staff received training on qualitative and quantitative methodologies, as well as approaches when analysing the Vietnamese labour market. The concepts of information extraction, suitable data processing, and data use based on analysis models were also covered. Additionally, the training course covered some of the 2019 Labour Code's new sections, which are crucial to updating the Labour Code with the latest information. Through the lectures, training participants were kept up to date on pertinent information, knowledge, and documents for scientific study, instruction, consultation, and government policy making. ILSSA developed and strengthened a network for specialists, researchers, and lecturers to share knowledge and experiences, which helped the training course succeed.

For the last 10 years, HSF has been closely collaborating with the ILSSA on conducting empirical research, training courses and consultation workshops on emerging and sizzling social issues in Vietnam in a timely manner. This longstanding partnership is part of HSF’s efforts to fulfil our commitment to supporting just, equitable and sustainable social development in Vietnam.
