Nearly 300 people attended the seminar, including members of Amyotha Hluttaw, Pyithu Hluttaw and Mon State Hluttaw as well as members of different Political Parties. Mon State CSOs also joined the event.
Opening remarks were delivered by Dr. Min Nwe Soe, a member of secretariat in UPDJC – Political Sector, Mr. Achim Munz, Resident Representative of HSF and Aung Kyaw Phyo, director of MID.
In the morning, the members of UPDJC - Political Sector, including U Tun Tun Hein, who is also the Chair of Bill Committee in Pyithu Hluttaw, presented a background and updates on the current Peace Process, followed by a question and answer session.
The afternoon included a panel discussion on shaping a democratic federation in Myanmar and constituted of four speakers:
1. Sai Kyaw Nyunt, the Member of Secretariat, Political Sector, (UPDJC)
2. Ye Myo Hein, Tagaung Institute of Political Study, (TIPS)
3. Min Zin, Institute for Strategy and Policy, (ISP) - Myanmar
4. Dr. Kyaw Thu, Paung Ku.
The sessions were moderated by Kyaw Swa Swe of MID and concluded with an extensive question and answer session.
