APHR’s Parliamentarians at Risk Reports, funded by Hanns Seidel Foundation, has revealed that MPs are increasingly facing reprisals for their work in the region. The training was, therefore, designed to help strengthen parliamentarians’ capacity to mitigate the ongoing threats while continuing to carry out their duties as representatives and human rights defenders. The topics of the training included risk assessment; digital hygiene and privacy; personal, office, residence and travel security; incident and crisis response as well as how to address physical surveillance.
The objective was for parliamentarians to be equipped with concrete security measures they can take to mitigate the impacts of threats and reprisals.
