The discussion brought together 40 participants from different groups, including political party members, scholars, members of CSOs and other practitioners who are involved in current political debates in Myanmar.

The discussions focused on the theory of Self-Determination and Secession, some case studies around the world and the long-term debate in Myanmar. The participants also discussed about the possible impact to a future federal Myanmar.

HSF invited Dr. Soeren Keil and Paul Anderson from Canterbury Christ Church University, while SIPP invited Naw May Oo, who has served many years in the political dialogues in Myanmar.

We found that the two-day discussion was very fruitful and gained some vast ideas to deeply think about for the federal future of Myanmar.
