Resident Representative meet with H.E U T Khun Myat, Speaker of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw

Resident Representative of the Hanns Seidel Foundation, Achim Munz met with H.E U T Khun Myat, the Speaker of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw on the 21st of August 2018. The meeting focused on the development of the cooperation between the Hanns Seidel Foundation and the Hluttaws.

Since 2016, the Hanns Seidel Foundation has a project office with 3 staff members at the Hluttaw and cooperates on strengthening the public relations and communications of the Hluttaws. The aim is to engage in a more people-oriented approach.

The current activities focus on developing a parliamentary role-play with the visitor service and an educational movie that describes the process of the parliament and the work of the members of parliament. Coming up is also a parliamentary delegation to Germany at the beginning of October.

Other discussion focused on the development of decentralisation and federalism. The Hanns Seidel Foundation supports Myanmar’s aspirations for a democratic and federal future and provides trainings, seminars and dialogues on decentralisation and federalism.
