According to the Inspection Law 2010, inspection activities play a crucial role in detecting loopholes in management mechanisms, policies and laws, recommending solutions to competent agencies; preventing, detecting and handling law violations; contributing to raising the effect and effectiveness of state management activities; and protecting the interests of the State and the rights and legitimate interests of agencies, organisations and individuals. Taking into account the special importance of inspection activities and relevant policies, the National Assembly of Vietnam (NA) planned on discussing the draft revived Inspection Law, showing the NA’s great effort to strengthen the legal framework related to inspection activities, to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of inspection activities and state management, and to prevent corruption.
In light of this, the Parliamentary Information Brief No. 1/2022 specifically focuses on the organisation and implementation of inspection activities in Vietnam. The publication comprises 15 articles discussing problems and policies related to inspection activities in Vietnam, such as role inspection activities in state management and combating corruption, some problems to be concerned in the revived Inspection Law, challenges of specialised inspection activities, and some recommendations on improving the effectiveness of inspection activity in the context of digital transformation in Vietnam. In addition, international experiences and best practices of some selected countries regarding the organisation and execution of specialised inspection activities are also presented in the publication.
