The Parliamentary Information Brief No. 3/2021 consists of 17 articles discussing intellectual property in the context of digitalisation and globalisation, analysing relevant regulations and their implementation in selected sectors and industries in Vietnam, and reviewing intellectual property policies in some countries and providing recommendations for Vietnam. In addition to articles written by Vietnamese experts and researchers of the Library of NA of Vietnam, this volume also includes a paper by a research team led by Dr Soeren Keil – academic head of the Institutional Research and Consulting Center at the University of Fribourg. In their article, the research team explained challenges of and legislative solutions for copyright protection in the EU, with a specific focus on Germany. Embracing diverse perspectives on various aspects of the protection of intellectual property rights, the Parliamentary Information Brief No. 3/2021 will serve as an important reference source for Vietnam’s National Assembly deputies while providing input to the amendment of the Intellectual Property Law during plenary sessions of the 15th National Assembly of Vietnam.

The Parliamentary Information Brief No. 4/2021 consists of 13 articles analysing Vietnam’s socioeconomic situation during the 4th wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and the outlook for the economy in 2022, discussing Vietnam’s business support policies, assessing the capacity of the healthcare system, and examining impacts of the pandemic on employment, education, and tourism in Vietnam. Furthermore, Dr Soeren Keil’s team also contributed two articles to this issue, introducing the covid vaccination and distribution strategy in the EU and Germany, and Germany’s response to the COVID-19 and the role of the German Parliament in the pandemic management. Covering important topics of socioeconomic impacts of the COVID-19 crisis and international responses to the pandemic, the publication aims at supporting the National Assembly deputies in discussions on the implementation of the socioeconomic development plan in 2021 and policy responses to the pandemic, and providing input to the socioeconomic development plan in 2022.
