The book provides an introduction to the topic of decentralisation and federalism. It includes the cores concepts and theories and also provides some country perspectives.

"Once a prohibited term, federalism is now commonly discussed in the political arena in Myanmar. Federal reforms are a cornerstone [in the recently signed ceasefire agreement] and a pre-requisite from the ethnic nationalists for the political dialogue and the future organization of the state. However, how this pathway to federalism will look like in Myanmar is still very much open.
It is prepared as a basis for further and more advanced discussions, and we hope that this publication contributes and expands the knowledge and understanding on the future dialogue on federalism in Myanmar."
