National Consultation Meeting of the Myanmar Civil Society Core Group on ASEAN (MCSGA)

This MCSGA meeting was the last before the ASEAN Civil Society Conference/ASEAN Peo-ples' Forum (ACSC/AFP) 2019 in Bangkok. In his opening remark Achim Munz highlighted that the Myanmar CSOs' participation in this ACSC/APF helps to collaborate with their counterparts in the region to solve the related issues together.

The steering committee shared the experience of ACSC/APF 2018 and the 50 recommendations which were formulated by the participants in Singapore. Two of them are directly related to Myanmar. On for the government to establish a body that will immediately address the issues of the Rohingya and other affected community and the second one for the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs). Afterwards, MCSGA continued with the preparation for the upcoming ACSC/AFP.

The group also elected new Steering Committee members and presented their Terms of Reference. The meeting was concluded after discussions on ASEAN and the relations between ASEAN and the CSOs. The next meeting is scheduled for either September or October.
