Multi-Stakeholder Workshop on ‘Responsible Tourism in Ngapali and other Myanmar Beach Destinations’

Following up the multi-stakeholder workshop held in Naypyidaw in 2015 on responsible tourism, a multi-stakeholder workshop on responsible tourism in Ngapali and other Myanmar beach destination was held from 11th to 13th May 2016, in Ngapali, Rakhine State. This workshop was organized by Hanns Seidel Foundation, Myanmar Centre for Responsible (MCRB) and Myanmar Responsible Tourism Institute (MRTI).

The workshop provided an opportunity for a wide range of stakeholders to have a dialogue the responsible development of beach destinations in Myanmar. During the three-day workshop, international and Myanmar experts presented on coastal planning, coastal tourism and local impacts. Group discussions and policy implications were also part of the agenda.

The State Minister of Development Affairs for Rakhine State attended the workshop and delivered the opening remarks. He stressed the importance of the tourism sector and the need for a responsible development of this sector.
