On 18th August, Hanns Seidel Foundation Vietnam (HSF) paid a visit to the Department of Planning (DoP) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) of Lao PDR. During the visit, Michael Siegner – Resident Representative of HSF and Mr Phayleuth Phonboulom – Director General of DoP/MPI discussed the continued cooperation on the development of circular economy in Lao PDR.
Within the framework of the Regional ASEAN Project on Sustainable Consumption and Production, HSF has been cooperating with DoP/MPI of Lao PDR since 2017 to implement various capacity building and international exchange activities on the topic of the Sustainable Development Agenda with a strong focus on green growth and the transition towards circular economy in Lao PDR. Earlier this year, the two parties jointly organised a 3-day consultation workshop in Luang Prabang to raise awareness and build capacity among government leaders and officials in Lao PDR, as well as to encourage circular economy practices especially as a tool to build back better in post-COVID recovery in this country. Both parties look forward to strengthening this fruitful collaboration in the future.
