After the successful publication of the first four volumes of the Country Report series, HSF continued supporting the joint research project led by the USSH/VNU and the JLU in compiling and publishing the fifth one focusing on gender issues and relevant policies in Vietnam. This newly published volume was contributed by experienced researchers from renowned universities and research institutes in Vietnam, Germany, and Australia, among them the USSH/VNU, JLU, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, University of Sydney, An-Giang University, and Vietnam Women’s Institute.
A hybrid event was organised on 5th April 2023 to officially introduce the publication to a large audience in order to raise public awareness of gender issues and where Vietnam stands in the pathway towards gender equality. Nearly 100 participants including representatives from governmental agencies, women associations and media agencies, as well as researchers and students from universities and research institutes in Vietnam and abroad joined the event in Hanoi and via Zoom to discuss the key findings of the report as well as various opportunities and challenges facing women in social, economic and political life in Vietnam. Furthermore, they also proposed some solutions and policy recommendations for advancing gender equality in this country.
The launch was livestreamed on the Facebook Pages of HSF (in English) and USSH (in Vietnamese), offering an interactive platform for a wider public to discuss with experts from academia, the government, international organisations about gender issues and relevant policies in Vietnam.
