International Symposium on Regulatory Reform
HSF Indonesia organizes an international symposium on regulatory reform jointly with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights

Indonesian and nternational experts gathered in Bali and Jember from the 7th to the 13th of August 2018 to exchange their experiences on regulatory reform issues in the various countries. The focus was on reduction of bureaucracy and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

International Symposium

The International Symposium took place in Seminyak, Bali from 7th to 10th August and in Jember, East Java from 11th to 13th August. The participants were from seven countries, including Japan, Germany, Netherlands, Myanmar, East Timor, China and Indonesia. Overall, the conference was attended by more than 100 participants, including staff from various Indonesian ministries and government agencies.

The opening speech of the conference was delivered by H.E. Yasonna Laoly, the Minister of Justice and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia. He emphasized the importance of the topic and the progress that Indonesia has made regarding regulatory reform. He also mentioned that further progress needs to be made to improve legislation and attract foreign direct investment.

Regulatory Reform

Many high-ranking officials attended the event and gave insightful presentations. One of the main topics that was discussed was alternative dispute resolution and legislative reform mechanisms. The Indonesian experts also focused on the current economic situation and how the economy can benefit from regulatory reform. The international experts gave insights into regulatory reform processes in their countries from a comparative perspective. The highlight of the Conference was an official dinner at Papuma Beach hosted by the Regency of Jember.
