Three new publications were jointly launched by HSF and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. The most prominent one is the study “Regulatory Reform in Indonesia - A Legal Perspective”, which is a collection of writings by legal experts from various universities in Indonesia. Several chapters of the study discuss the reform of regulatory issues, such as harmonization of laws and regulations. Furthermore, the Hanns Seidel Foundation also published a book on the handling of judicial review in the Indonesian Constitutional Court and a handbook on mediation. These publications aim to support, and give guidance, to government officials in legal institutions and in the judiciary regarding conflicting legal norms and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
Participants of the book launch listened to a dissemination session with staff of the Ministry of Law and legal experts from various universities. The keynote speaker, Mr Kai Hauerstein, drafted the main part of the study on regulatory reform in Indonesia. Other speakers included Mr Ardiansyah of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, Dr. Bayu Dwi Anggono of Jember University and Dr. Feri Amsari of Andalas University. They agreed that the publication of the regulatory reform study will help the consolidation of law in Indonesia and that it will increase the knowledge of practitioners and students in respective fields of law.
