The parliamentary roleplay is a simulation of the function and processes of the Hluttaw for students and interested people. With the roleplay, participants will be placed into the role of Members the Hltuttaw as well as being the speaker to simulate a parliamentary session. The parliamentary roleplay will be part of the visitor service of the Hluttaw, so visitors to the Hluttaw will hopefully have the option to take part in the roleplay in the future. The roleplay will then actively introduce them to the parliamentary work, the processes but also the decision-making in terms of voting on specific issues.
The workshop developed the key parts of the roleplay simulation. This means: how the roleplay will be conducted by the Hluttaw administration and what topics will be included, for example policies and laws to develop a realistic roleplay. The first days were used to discover different styles of roleplays, including staff participation. The following days, the tailored roleplay for the Hluttaws was elaborated to the needs of the visitor service and adapted to the Myanmar context and the processes of the Myanmar Hluttaws.
The trainers for this workshop were Mr. Claus Koggel, Head of the Division of the visitor service and International Relations Department of the Bundesrat, and Mr. Frank Burgdoerfer who is seconded by the Bundestag and who is one of the owners and managers of polyspektiv, a company that has a long history and experience of developing parliamentary roleplays.
