Strengthen the CLP network of green start-ups in Vietnam
ClimateLaunchpad Vietnam Alumni Networking Event

A two-day networking event was organised for alumni of ClimateLaunchpad (CLP) Vietnam in Vinh Phuc Province. CLP is the biggest competition for green business ideas in the world which is co-organised in Vietnam by the Hanns-Seidel-Foundation (HSF) Vietnam and the Center for Creativity and Sustainability Study and Consultancy (CCS).

HSF and CCS organized the event to give CLP Vietnam alumni the opportunity to exchange experiences, share knowledge and network among each other. Moreover, the event brought together potential investors and sustainable businesses so that the companies may attract those investors.

Regarding that, the Gala Dinner in the evening of 13th October was a great possibility for interacting and networking as the participants not only had food together but also were involved in team games and had a lot of time for talking to each other in a pleasant atmosphere.

Other relevant participants like business experts and policy makers attended the event as well. The latter were representatives of the Ministry of Technology and Science and of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam. In the morning of 14th October those representatives gave speeches about relevant policies and programmes which support green economy in Vietnam and therefore sustainable Vietnamese start-ups.

The transition of the economy of Vietnam to a green and circular one depends on several stakeholders with different roles. It was stated that policy makers must work on improving legal frameworks which make the transition easier as well as support mechanisms which facilitate doing green business for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups. International organizations as stakeholders can be helpful with that.

A green economy can only be successfully implemented if entrepreneurs can guarantee sustainable practices throughout the whole process of adding value and if there is sufficient consumer demand.

Researchers who constantly deliver knowledge about innovative practices are also a relevant part of the process.

In the afternoon discussion rounds took place. The topics were product development, finance and investment for green start-ups.
