Community-based Dialogues (CBD) Project
CBD Coordination-Monitoring Meeting with Project Partner Representatives and Region VIII Core Group members held in Tacloban City

On 19 September 2017, the Community-based Dialogues (CBD) Project Steering Committee together with the core group members of Region VIII comprising of the Armed Forces of the Philippines- Civil Military Operations’ officers from the 801st, 802nd and 803rd Brigades, PNP Police Regional Office VIII, members of civil society organizations and CHR Regional Office VIII held a coordination-monitoring meeting in Tacloban City.

The agenda includes a presentation and assessment of the results of the planned follow-though activities, review (status to date) of project implementation based on the project logical framework, sharing of current developments on the ground, and more importantly, the development and institutionalization of a coordination, monitoring, documentation and reporting system for the CBD mechanism.

The conduct of coordination-monitoring meetings with the regional CBD core groups is an important component of the project towards institutionalizing the CBD mechanism at the local level through strengthening of the multi-sectoral partnership between the security sector, in particular the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police, and members of civil society. The core groups have been encouraged to engage other key government and non-government institutions/agencies/organizations, as may be necessary in order to help address the issues on the ground, most especially the local government units through active participation in the peace and order council (POC) and/or development councils.

This CBD on Human Rights Promotion and Protection Project is a partnership among the Alternative Law Groups, AFP, PNP, Alliance of Human Rights Advocates and Commission on Human Rights, with support from the Hanns Seidel Foundation/Germany (HSF).
