A total of 63 non-party stakeholders (local governments, corporates, CSOs, universities) from all districts/cities throughout Central Kalimantan Province benefitted from the 2 days’ workshop. The training aimed at increasing stakeholders’ (provincials, districts/cities) capacity to contribute to provincial GHG reports which will be used for NDC reporting and as a basis for determining future mitigation actions in Central Kalimantan Province.
During the training participants learned about common sources of GHG emissions in Indonesia, how to collect data needed during the GHG inventory process, how to group the collected data according to GHG inventory sectors, how to verify data to ensure data accuracy and relevance, and how reporting of GHG inventory data works from the district, provincial up to national level. The workshop included training on the usage of SIGN SMART (signsmart.menlhk.go.id), an electronic online tool and web-based calculator, developed by KLHK in 2015 as a simplified version of GHG reporting methods from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). On the long run the GHG inventory data will serve as a baseline for target settings of emissions in the province and will assist respective authorities to decide mitigation actions to be taken.
Participants showed a keen interest on the subjects that were covered and expressed their willingness to contribute to the GHG inventory report in Central Kalimantan Province in the future.
