Bavarian-Indonesian Police Alumni (BIPA) Network Meeting

On 28 and 29 November 2019, the Hanns Seidel Foundation held a police alumni meeting with participants from all over Indonesia as well as Bavaria. During the meeting many issues, which are of common interest to the police forces in Bavaria and Indonesia, were discussed.

Background of BIPA

The BIPA (Bavarian Indonesian Police Alumni) alumni meeting is organized annually by HSF Indonesia. Members of the alumni network are students of the master programme at STIK PTIK that have been part of the internship programme in Bavaria. Every year the Hanns Seidel Foundation facilitates an internship for STIK-PTIK Master Programme students in Bavaria, to learn how the Bavarian police works in a citizen friendly manner and provides services to the community. So far, the BIPA network consists of 5 batches (2015 to 2019) and approx. 50 Indonesian police officers.

BIPA alumni meeting 2019

This alumni meeting in Bandung discussed various topics that are relevant to the daily work of police officers in Indonesia, such as leadership and management. Furthermore, the alumni brainstormed on BIPA activities going forward, a new BIPA management board for 2020-2022 period was elected as well.

The alumni meeting was a good opportunity for police officers from Bavaria and Indonesia to maintain their strong ties and to discuss future steps to make the BIPA network more efficient and productive. It was decided by the alumnis to carry out a program to spread the knowledge and experience of the BIPA alumni to other police stations in Indonesia. HSF has agreed to support this new programme logistically and financially.
