Basic First Aid Training for Hluttaw Visitor Service

HSF supported a basic first aid training for 20 visitor service staff members from Pyithu, Amyotha and Pyidaungsu Hluttaw. The training took place on the 27th and 28th of December from 9:30am to 16:30pm. The focal trainers for this workshop were Daw Toe Toe Aye and Daw Myint Myint Kyu from Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS).

On the first day, Daw Toe Toe Aye presented a brief historic background of Red Cross community to the participants and both trainers continued to introduce the basic procedure and knowledge regarding how to respond to an emergency situation as well as code of conduct for first aiders. They also shared their knowledge on how to examine the patient methodically, document their findings with the patients, prioritize between each case, treat various kinds of injuries and medical conditions, perform CPR, and how to connect with the related medical institutions for further treatment. After the two-day intensive training, participants sit for a written test and CPR test, examined by the trainers in order to obtain the certificate accredited by MRCS.

This workshop is a component of a series of visitor service workshops for the Union level Parliaments of Myanmar. By organizing this training, it is aimed to increase the quality of Hluttaw visitor service. This contributes to the project’s aim to “Support a people oriented Parliament in Myanmar” with financial support of the Foreign Ministry Germany.
