The General Meeting started with a welcoming speech by Co-chair of MCSCGA U Ngwe Thein followed by a special talk by U Tun Ohn, Political Advisor of the Hanns Seidel Foundation. U Aung Myo Min, Advisor of MCSCGA, talked on the Engagement of CSOs and ASEAN. After which he led a session on the current situation in Rakhine State. The objective of this was to set a common stand of CSOs on this issue, especially at times of crisis like this.
Daw Thin Nwe Soe led the participants through the 4-day program of the ACSC/APF 2017. Daw Tin Tin Htwe who is currently Senior Advisor at Parami Energy Group of Companies and a retired government official gave a talk on AEC and Corporate Greed. Corporate Greed and Power is one of the 5 Convergence Spaces on which the ACSC/APF 2017 is structured. The other themes are: Labour mobility and mixed migration, Peace and Security, Human Rights and Access to Justice and Life with Dignity. The objective was to give potential participants of the ACSC/APF 2017 the salient points to enable dynamic discussion.
HSF will also support Myanmar CSO delegation team to participate in ACSC/APF 2017 next month in Manila, the Philippines.
