The national dialogues are an important step within the peace process in Myanmar and were a preparation for the upcoming 2nd Panglong Union Peace Conference in mid-March.

The invitation to the Pa-O National Dialogue went out to more than 700 people and is seen as a multi-stakeholder dialogue that also included the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). All organizations that were attending the dialogue had the opportunity to present and submit their papers focused on four key issues:

  • Social
  • Politics
  • Economics
  • Land and Natural Resources

The multi-day dialogue included workshops and presentations on key issues. Finally, the dialogue was summarized and concluded in key principles and policies from the perspectives of the Pa-O people.

We would like to use this opportunity to thank Khun Myint Tun, Chairman of PNLO and also Chairman of Convening Committee for their trust to invite the Hanns Seidel Foundation alongside our Programme Manager U Aung Soe Min as a resource person and technical advisor to the dialogue and the workshops.
