Kayah State Sustainable and Responsible Tourism Development

From the 8th to the 11th of July representatives from the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) including Resident Representative Achim Munz, as well as the Myanmar Responsible Tourism Institute (MRTI) visited numerous locations around Loikaw to explore possibilities to support a new community tourism project.

HSF

We met with the Kayah State Government and the State Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, as well as community representatives to receive their advice and perspectives on potential sites and strategies, as well as product ideas. The Kayah State Government has given us their full support and we were able to visit many beautiful locations. HSF and MRTI were excited to learn of all the ideas communities have to develop tourism in a sustainable and inclusive manner within their territories. We are grateful for the support and trust we were given while exploring possible tourism sites and would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the people of Kayah!
