HSF supports the General Meeting of the Myanmar Civil Societies Core Group on ASEAN

Every year the ASEAN Civil Society Conference and ASEAN People Forum (ACSC / APF) takes place bringing together civil society organizations (CSOs) from all member states of ASEAN to discuss regional issues and policy developments on the ASEAN level. In 2017, the ACSC / APF took place in the Philippines on March 16th 2017.

The framework organization to represent the Myanmar civil society organizations at the ACSC / APF is the Myanmar Civil Societies’ Core Group on ASEAN (MCSCGA). As part of our objective to support Myanmar’s integration to ASEAN, we are supporting the general meeting of MCSCGA.

The general meeting is structured to share current information on ASEAN (especially regarding the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community pillar) among the CSOs in Myanmar. Moreover, the meeting also represented a well welcomed preperation for the ACSC/APF 2017.

CSO participants were invited from all States and Regions to share their knowledge and opinions on the proposed topics to be discussed at ACSC/APF. The next general meeting in line was held just before the ACSC/APF.

We would like to thank particularly U Aung Myo Min (Equality Myanmar) for moderating the general meeting and sharing his knowledge, as well as Dr. May Shi Sho and the MCSCGA organizing team, and also the participants.
