Climate Change Projects in the ASEAN Region

On June 26th 2018 the 1st ASEAN Climate Change Partnership Conference was convened in Manila with support of the Hanns Seidel Foundation. Donor agencies and ASEAN member states gathered to exchange ideas and views on climate change. The ASEAN sectoral bodies presented their work and action plans regarding climate change. The conference was hosted by the Philippines and chaired by Singapore (in its capacity as chair of the AWGCC).

Many interesting initiatives were presented during the conference, including a project regarding a blockchain-based carbon exchange in Singapore and various peatland research projects at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Various ASEAN member states also presented their proposals to combat climate change and mitigate its consequences. A lively exchange of ideas between participating governments, international organisations and academic institutions took place during the daylong event. International donor agencies were given the floor to present their activities and programmes in the field of climate change.
