Expert Meeting

On June 28th 2018 the 3rd Expert Meeting regarding the establishment of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms took place in Jakarta. Experts from the Ministry of Justice and various scholars from leading law schools in Indonesia attended the meeting. The experts discussed the set of recommendations, which the ADR Panel in the pilot case will give to the parties. The recommendations have already been drafted to a large extent and this was the final meeting before a second hearing will be conducted in the pilot case. The Hanns Seidel Foundation supported and facilitated the gathering of experts so that they could finalize their recommendations.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

Furthermore, during the meeting, the experts completed their work on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the dispute resolution mechanism. The SOP intend to give clear procedural rules which are applicate in all future ADR proceedings in the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights. There will be one final discussion of the SOP and once operational they will be published with the support of Hanns Seidel Foundation. The Hanns Seidel Foundation during the meeting emphasized its commitment to technical training for staff and to facilitate further expert meetings with the Ministry.
