HSF in Indonesia cooperates with the Directorate General of Climate Change Control of the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry
Capacity Building for Non-Party Stakeholders in Pangkajene and Islands District of South Sulawesi Province on the Preparation of local Adaptation Actions Plan

In order to contribute to the achievement of Indonesia’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) the president of the Republic of Indonesia addressed the creation of carbon economic value in the Presidential Decree No 98/2021. This Decree stipulates that all sectors and local governments under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) have to prepare adaptation action plans. Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) collaborated with the Directorate General of Climate Change Control (Ditjen PPI) of KLHK to facilitate a training workshop with non-party stakeholders in South Sulawesi Province on the preparation of these adaptation action plans.

During the workshop from 23-25 May 2023 in Makassar a total of 40 non-party stakeholders (representatives from local governments, universities, corporates and CSOs) from Pangkajene and Islands District benefitted from the 3 days’ training which was delivered by Directorate of Climate Change Adaptation of Ditjen PPI. The workshop aimed at increasing capacity of stakeholders in Pangkajene and Islands Districts related to assessment of vulnerability, impacts and risks of climate change which will serve as materials of preparation of the adaptation plan document of Pangkajene and Islands Districts.

The participants exercised the input of vulnerability index data of Pangkajene and their Islands Districts into the SIDIK (System of information and Vulnerability Indexes Data) program at sidik.menlhk.go.id. The SIDIK program will assist cities, districts, and provincial government authorities as well as the national level to determine needed adaption actions for the future.
