As a follow-up to the internship program for Indonesian police students at a Bavarian police office, the alumni network BIPA (Bavarian-Indonesian Police Alumni) has been established in 2016. BIPA serves as a forum to exchange ideas and experiences amongst the alumni. The network is supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation Indonesia office.
After the internship program in Germany, the trained students graduate from the master program at the Indonesian police university and are posted at police stations throughout Indonesia. More than 60% of the BIPA alumni are now heading a police station, a unit and sub-unit, where they apply the philosophy of service-oriented policing.
The Alumni meet once every year. In this year’s meeting, emerging issues of police work such as “Police and Social Networks”, “Police and Automotive”, and “Risk Management” were discussed. Furthermore, the BIPA yearbook includes articles written by alumni and profiles of all alumni. It has been published and was disseminated to members at the meeting.
