The University of Labour and Social Affairs (ULSA), a University under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) of Vietnam, active in the field of social work and labour management, has been a partner of the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) since 2020. In 2021, HSF will cooperate with ULSA on various topics including sustainable and socially responsible human resource management and the implementation on the Labour Code 2019.
Compiled and published in the 4th quarter of 2020, - the Country Report 2020: Vietnam as An Ageing Society - a product of the cooperation between Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Vietnam, the Justus-Liebig University of Gießen (JLU), and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH)/Vietnam National University (VNU) – was successfully launched on 15th April 2021 after some postponements due to the Covid-19 situation in Vietnam.
Vietnam, like many countries in the Asia-Pacific region, is in the period of a demographic window of opportunity, but also at the early stage of population aging. The country is currently among the fastest aging countries in the world, but in the context of lower income levels than others. Without suitable policy interventions, Vietnam could possibly end up in the scenario of “getting old before getting rich” and which would imply various socio-economic problems such as delayed business expansion and increase of elderly poverty.
In March 2021, the 14th National Assembly of Vietnam opened the last session in its tenure. Highlights of the 14th National Assembly as well as the performance of its legislative and supervisory functions are summarised in the first quarterly Information Brief in 2021 published by the Office of National Assembly (ONA) with the support of Hanns Seidel Foundation Vietnam (HSF).
In January, Hanns Seidel Foundation Vietnam (HSF) and the Office of National Assembly of Vietnam (ONA) signed the Annual Agreement for the Calendar Year 2021. On 2nd April, the two parties met to discuss the implementation of cooperation activities as stated in the Annual Agreement 2021.
