Viet Nam has requested the OECD to undertake a Multi-dimensional Review (MDCR) to support the design of its socio-economic development strategies, as Viet Nam seeks to accelerate the transformation of its economic growth model. Since 1990, Vietnam has witnessed a period of impressive economic growth and has benefited from good stewardship and a favourable global and regional economy. Yet early indications, such as a sharp decline in productivity growth, suggest that Viet Nam must soon transition to a new model of development in order to keep momentum and avoid the middle-income trap.
