PNP holds rights-based policing forum for CSO Representatives and Training for PNP Human Rights Officers
“Gone are the days of animosity between the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs),” stated PNP Regional Director Chief Superintendent Melvin Ramon Buenafe as he addressed the participants to a rights-based policing forum for Civil Society Organization (CSO) Representatives in Legazpi City. “Together, in fora such as these, we can peacefully discuss approaches to solve common policing problems,” added Chief Superintendent Buenafe, who, with 8,000 police officers under his command, is responsible for police operations in the entire Bicol Region which has a population of approximately 6,000,000 spread over six provinces, four in the island of Luzon, and two comprising separate island provinces.
