“Development of case-based training scenarios combines theories and practical applications so that the police trainees are able to analyze and think for themselves how they may react accordingly,” stated Police Superintendent Nelvin Ricohermoso as he addressed the participants to the Case-Based Scenarios Training of Trainors (ToT) held in Cebu City with the support of the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF). “Each material should specify the knowledge, practical, and communication skills that the trainee should obtain at the end of each training scenario,” Ricohermoso added.

With the words “Hear each other out, listen to one another and respect one another,” Former Senator Aquilino Q. Pimentel, Chairman of the Board of the Pimentel Institute for Leadership and Governance (PILG), enjoined the youth participants to the sixth edition of “Batang Transformers Camp: Building a Peaceful Nation Young Leaders Camp” held last 27 to 30 October 2016 in Antipolo, Rizal to be open to one another and to have due regard for one another’s feelings, wishes, rights and traditions.

In pursuit of the development of the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights (NAP-BHR) in cooperation with critical stakeholders, a consultation-workshop with civil society organizations (CSOs) was held on 26 October 2016 in Manila organized by the Commission on Human Rights and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with support from the Hanns Seidel Foundation/Germany (HSF).

The last of a series of regional Training of Trainers and Institutionalization Workshop for 2016 was held on October 17-21, 2016 in Baguio City covering Northern Luzon (Cordillera Administrative Region/CAR, Region I/Ilocos Region, and Region II/Cagayan Valley).

“Further to guidance provided by the President of the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC), we are pleased to note that you will incorporate human rights based policing (HRBP) principles in the development of additional case-based scenarios for use in training police recruits and other officers,” stated National Capital Region Training Center Director Police Superintendent Roderick Mariano as he addressed the participants to a Case-Based Scenarios Training of Trainors (ToT) held in Davao City with the support of the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF).

After a fruitful and successful partnership from 2007 to 2016, the Microfinance Capacity Building Project was turned over to the “National Consortium of Dual Training System Competency-based Education (DTS CBE) for Microfinance Program,” chaired by Mr. Crisanto “Boysie” Sabino.

The Microfinance Capacity Building Program, jointly implemented by the PinoyME Foundation (PMEF) and Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation (NCAF) together with partner microfinance and academic institutions, held its last activity –“ Development of Competency Assessment Tools (CATs) for Microfinance Technology (MF Tech) National Certificate (NC) IV Workshop” – under the partnership last 03-07 October 2016 in Manila. The nine-year program cooperation was supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation/Germany (HSF).

Under the auspices of the project on “Community-based Dialogue Sessions on Human Rights Promotion and Protection between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police, and Civil Society Organizations and Local Communities,” the third leg for 2016 of the “Training of Trainers and Institutionalization Workshop” covering the National Capital Region (NCR), Regions III (Central Luzon) and Region IV-A (CALABARZON) was held on 03-07 October in Manila.

“There should be transparency in police operations,” stated Human Rights Commissioner Gwendolyn Pimentel Gana as she addressed the participants to a human rights-based policing (HRBP) training for police human rights officers held in Cebu City.
