This paper captures the different perspectives on developments, challenges and future directions of microfinance-- some specific to a certain country or region and others across jurisdictions. In essence, this paper provides policymakers, regulators, microfinance institutions, donor community, academe, microfinance researchers, analysts and other stakeholders with the necessary information on available best microfinance policies and practices and thus should assist them identify potential gaps in microfinance literature, which can be the subject of future research agenda and policy advocacy.
