"Power Sharing and Resource Sharing in Federalism -- A Comparative Analysis amongst Varied Approaches in Different Countries," was the topic of the roundtable discussion held at the University of the Philippines College of Law last 09 March 2017.

In connection with the expressed intention of the present administration to spearhead the shift to a federal system of government, the Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines (CHR) held a forum for its key officers and core staff on “Federalism and Conflict Regulation: Typical Conflicts and Potential Arrangements for Regulation, Including Conflicts Over the Supremacy of National Over Sub-National Law” in Quezon City on 09 March 2017. A main discussant for the activity, which was jointly organised by the Pimentel Institute for Leadership and Governance (PILG) and the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) in collaboration with the CHR, was Prof. Dr. Andreas Heinemann-Grüder of the Political Science Department of the Friedrich-Wilhelm University of Bonn in Germany.

In collaboration with Governor David C. Suarez of the Province of Quezon, the Pimentel Institute for Leadership and Governance (PILG) and the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) jointly organised a forum entitled “Federalism and Development: Effects of Decentralization, Devolution and Federalization on Business and Investment – Comparative Perspectives,” which was held last 08 March 2017 in Lucena City

In support of the government’s thrust to increase the Filipinos’ awareness about federalism, the Pimentel Institute for Leadership and Governance (PILG) and the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) jointly organised a forum on federalism with the Phinma Cagayan de Oro College (Phinma COC).

The Pimentel Institute for Leadership and Governance (PILG) and the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) presented different successful approaches used by some countries with a federal system of government in addressing their specific concerns in a forum held in UP Diliman, Quezon City on 06 March 2017.

As lead agency for the development of the Philippine National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights (PNAP-BHR), the Presidential Human Rights Committee (PHRC) under the Office of the President of the Philippines organized the 1st Core Group Discussion-Workshop in cooperation with the Hanns Seidel Foundation/Germany (HSF) which was held in Malacañang Palace, Manila on March 1, 2017.
